Things to look for in a fitness Boot camp

Whether you're looking to lose those last ten pounds of body fat or take your current fitness routine to the next level, signing up for a fitness boot camp could be a great solution for you. Here are three important things to consider before you sign up:

1. Location

Is the camp close to your home or work? Is it inside or outside? A convenient, reliable location can be a huge factor in your long term ability to stick with the program. There's nothing worse that getting fired up for a 5:30 am workout only to find that it's cancelled due to rain as you pull up in the parking lot. Or having to fight traffic for 45 minutes after work just to get to the location where your camp is being held. Make sure the location of your fitness boot camp is both convenient and reliable.

2. The Instructor

Some folks want a drill sargeant-type instructor - that yells and screams and intimidates you into working hard. In my experience, however, this isn't most people:) In my boot camp business, for example, we run it a lot like a group personal training session - we push our clients hard, but we don't yell and scream. Either way, make sure the instructor has a style that you're going to enjoy and be motivated by.

3. Workout Style

Is the workout simply running, jumping jacks, push ups and sit ups? Does the instructor go out of their way to make the workouts interesting and keep things moving? Is the workout done with all body weight? Or does the instructor use dumbbells, medicine balls, kettlebells, etc.? All of these things are important factors to consider in your search.

Location, the instructor, and workout style are all important things to consider when choosing a fitness boot camp. Good luck in your search!!
